Goals of the Community Grant Funding program

We are seeking to distribute funding as widely as possible (in terms of location), in programs that make a cost effective, demonstrable and sustainable difference in peoples' lives.

Grant Opportunities

Community Project Grant

A grant of between $1,000 and $10,000 for a specific project to be outlined on the application form. The project should aim to; help people suffering from mental illness, help prevent suicide, raise public awareness of mental health, or raise awareness of suicide prevention.

A. Mental Health First Aid Train the Trainer

A grant to have a nominated person trained to become a "Mental Health First Aid" trainer for your community. If a grant for this is awarded, the total value of this grant  will be paid directly to Mental Health First Aid Australia (mental health awareness training company) by Black Dog Ride Australia.

Once qualified, a Mental Health First Aid trainer can deliver the two-day Mental Health First Aid workshop. This workshop teaches participants how to assist people who are developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem or in a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional help is received, or the crisis resolves.

B. Mental Health First Aid Course - Individual

A grant to have a nominated person trained to become a "Mental Health First Aider" for your community. If a grant for this is awarded, the total value of this grant will be paid directly to the course provider by Black Dog Ride Australia. This course teaches participants how to assist people who are developing a mental health problem, experiencing a worsening of an existing mental health problem or in a mental health crisis, until appropriate professional help is received, or the crisis resolves.

C. LivingWorks ASIST Train the Trainer

A grant exists to have a nominated person trained to become a LivingWorks "ASIST" trainer for your community. To find out more about ASIST, see https://www.livingworks.com. au/programs/asist/  . If a grant for this is awarded, the T4T portion of the grant will be paid directly to LivingWorks by Black Dog Ride Australia. Before you can apply for this grant you must attend the pre screening interview conducted by LivingWorks Australia.  For more information about becoming an ASIST trainer see https://www.livingworks.com. au/programs/asist-t4t/    Please read this thoroughly before contacting  info@livingworks.com.au  to enquire about progressing your T4T application with a BDRA grant.

D. LivingWorks safeTalk Train the Trainer

A grant exists to have a nominated person trained to become a LivingWorks "safeTALK" trainer for your community. For more information about safeTALK see https://www.livingworks.com.au/programs/safetalk/ . If a grant for this is awarded, the T4T invoice will be paid directly to LivingWorks by Black Dog Ride Australia.

To be eligible for this grant, a trainer candidate must first have completed the 2 day LivingWorks ASIST course. https://www.livingworks.com.au/programs/asist/  and then attain eligibility determined by LivingWorks Australia.
