Mental Health First Aid Training
Since 2013, Black Dog Ride has gifted over $500,000 in fundraising to
Mental Health First Aid Australia.
This has given Mental Health First Aid Australia the opportunity to fund teen Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training in Australian High Schools. So far, Black Do Ride's funding has enabled 445 Australian adolescents to be trained in teen MHFA with another 269 being trained in 2016. Read more about this project here.
The funding has also gone towards training Black Dog Riders as MHFA Instructors. The selection and training as a Standard MHFA Instructor is rigorous, and Black Dog Ride is proud of our MHFA Instructors who are now training community members which has a significant and positive impact upon grassroots suicide prevention. Applications for Instructor training are now closed.
Below you will find information about Black Dog Ride's Accredited MHFA Instructors and how to contact them to arrange training.
What is MHFA?
The Standard 12-hour Mental Health First Aid course teaches adults (18 years and over) how to provide initial support to adults who are developing a mental illness or experiencing a mental health crisis. Read more about the Standard MHFA Course here.

Talk to your friends, club, or colleagues and get a group of 8-15 likeminded people who would like to be trained in MHFA, then contact the MHFA Instructor in your area to arrange a time and a venue for training. Alternatively contact your closest Instructor and submit an expression of interest for future training. Please let the Instructor know if you are a Black Dog Rider. If your region is not represented below, you can search for an Instructor on the MHFA website here.
